How plant ID works
Point your camera at a leaf, stem, or the whole plant. Planti sends the photo to our identifier and comes back with likely species from a growing indoor-plant database — not a random web guess.
Each suggestion includes a confidence signal so you can compare lookalikes. Pick the one that matches, or try a second photo if the first shot was dark or cropped too tight.
You stay in control: nothing is added to your collection until you confirm. That keeps mystery plants from messing up watering reminders later.
What you get after a match
A confirmed species unlocks care basics: light, watering rhythm, flowers, and how the plant likes to live indoors. You can attach photos, notes, and a spot in your home so it sits with the rest of your jungle.
Planti also surfaces toxicity for cats, dogs, and people when we have it, plus traditional uses and edible parts on species that include them. That is the same catalog you browse in the app — identification is the on-ramp, not a one-off gimmick.
If you share plants in a shared household, everyone sees the same species card. You are not maintaining a private nickname that nobody else understands.
Tips for a clearer match
Use daylight on a true leaf, not just the pot. Avoid heavy filters. If the plant has flowers, include them — they often separate lookalike species faster than a leaf-only shot.
Identification needs a network connection. After you save the plant, you can manage it offline; care logs sync when you are back online.
